MINERS’ RELIEF
THE BRITISH FUND (Rec. January 15, 11.5 p.m.) London, January 15. The Lord Mayor’s miners’ fund has reached half a million, which the Government has doubled. Contributions are still coming to hand. SUM DISTRIBUTED IN NEW SOUTH WALES Sydney, January 15. About £70,000 was advanced .by the State Government last year to meet the expenditure on doles distributed to distressed families in the coal mining areas. This emphasises the depression which exists in the coal mining industry.
