Pressure has risen somewhat over southern New. Zealand,.; but another deep depression has developed over south-eastern Australia. West to north winds, strong in parts of Cook Strait, elsewhere moderate; ' but later winds freshening generally from the north and reaching gale force in places in and south of Cook Strait. --Rather rough seas about Cook Strait; otherwise smooth to moderate generally in New Zealand waters, but rising later south of Cape Egmont.. Increasing northerly winds and smooth to moderate but rising seas in the eastern Tasman. Some isolated showers, but mainly fair to “fine at first and warm to hot. Later a renewal of unsettled weather, with rain at first in western and southern parts of the South Island, and extending gradually to other districts.
