Mr. and Mrs. W. Cooper and Miss Jessie Cooper, Masterton, are staying at Lyall Bay. Mrs. Lewis aud Miss May Lewis, Masterton, are visiting 'Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. It. A. Cameron, Mauriceville, are visiting Wellington. Mrs. B. Hume and Master Graham Hume, of New Plymouth, are on holiday in Wellington, and are the guests of Mrs. C. Jansf.ii, Roxburgh Street,
Mrs. Fauvel. Wellington, who has been the guest of Mrs. Peter Lewis, at Wanganui, is now visiting Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. C. Ross, Wanganui, have taken over the well-known property of “Letham.” farmed for tlie last eight years by Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Tosswill. Mr. and Mrs. Crispin have returned to Wanganui from the South Island. Miss D. Duncan, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. J. Laird, "Baltbangie,’’ "Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. C. Adam (Ohakune), are on holiday in Wellington. A pleasant party was given recently by Mr. and Mrs. Kay Sutherland, at their home at Okoitt. Mrs. Sutherland received her guests wearing a frock of rose pink taffeta. Among those present were Mesdames Hazlett (Gore), Cook and France (Invercargill), G. Sutherland and 11. Sommerville, Misses Phillips, McLeod and Turner ('Wellington). Cook (Invercargill), and Messrs. R. G. Sutherland, K. Somerville, Aitken, Beattie, Carson and McLeod. « * « LAVENDER WATER. A correspondent asks for a recipe for making lavender water. The only way known to the writer Is by tbe process of distillation, which extracts the oil of lavender. Lavender water is then made by adding spirits of wine with such essencts tis musk, rose, herjainoi. hud ambergris. Some reader may know of a simpler way of making a perfume from the fresh flowers.
