TEST CRICKET
DANGER OF STALEMATE IN NEXT SERIES OF MATCHES (United Service.) London, January 10. “Great eare must be taken in the actual wording of the conditions for the next Tests, otherwise a stalemate may result,” says “Sporting “Assuming that England or Australia won two matches and the other side one, with one drawn when the fourth game was completed, whether the fifth is or is not played to a finish, there would be a risk of the sides finishing all square. It was important to clearly define what the word ‘advantage’ means. Presumably in the event of one country leading the fifth would be confined to four days, but in those four a definite result nug ll * be reached, and the team which started a game down would finish with a win. The meagre particulars at present revealed do not suggest that satisfactory precautions have been taken to avoid a stalemate.”
