At Wichita, Kansas, Colonel Goebel, winner;of the. Dole flight to Honolulu, announced to-day that he will attempt ' a non-stop around the world flight as soon- as preparations can be made, probably next August or September. It is proved that such a flight is possible, Goebel asserted.PROPOSED FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA . .MOIR AND OWEN AWAITING BACKING (Australian Press Association.) - '' ’ London, January 9. The. Australian aviators Moir and Owen, who accompanied Captain Hurley on an .attempted flight from Australia to England in the Spirit of Australia but who crashed at Athens, are still anxiously awaiting information from Australia concerning funds, to enable a homeward flight to be undertaken. They have everything in readiness at this end, and in the event of the sanction of backers are ready to carry put the flight forthwith. It' is understood that Hurley does not intend to return to Australia by air. but Moir, and Owen, who are qualified airmen, feel that the right thing to do is to fly .to Australia. The technical Air Press is highly eulogistic of their splendid efforts in reaching Greece, considering the machine was overladen with photographic apparatus. It will be necessary to hurryup Australian action, as the flight ' must be started almost at once if favourable weather is to be encountered. WORLD’S RECORD FOR LIGHT AEROPLANE (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, January 9. The Federation Aeronautique Internationale has notified the Royal Aero Club'of the granting ,of a world’s record to Allan Butler, chairman of the de. Hiviland Aircraft Company, who, on December 7, on ' a 100-kilometre course, accomplished, a speed 0f'192.864 kilometres per hour on a de Haviland Gipsy Moth. The record was made in a two-seater class for light aeroplanes. Mrs. Butler was a passenger. DATE OF SCHNEIDER CUP RACE (Australian Press Association.) ' (Rec. January .10, 5.5 p.m.) London, January 9. It is officially stated that the date of the Schneider Cup. contest on the Solent has been fixed for September 6 and 7.
