According to the “Church News,” Archbishop Averill (Primate of New Zealand) hopes to attend the Lambeth Conference in England in 1930.
A short time ago the directors of the Midland Bank announced that Admiral of the Fleet Earl Jellicoe had been appointed to a seat on the board. He will thus assume his third directorship, fis he is already connected with the executive bodies of the Bank of New Zealand (London hoard) and the Cayzer, Irvine, and Co., Ltd. Admiral Sir Charles Madden is also a director of the latter concern.
Mr. George M. Moir, M.Sc., an exstudent of Otago University, has won the Pedler Research Scholarship of the Institute of Chemistry for research work in connection with the proteins of milk at the National Institute for Dairying at Reading, England. This is the first scholarship ever awarded by the institute, which is the leading association of British chemists.
Mr. Dennis Brown, B.Sc., of the Department of Physics, Leeds University, was expected to leave for New Zealand at the end of December to take up the position of lecturer in physics at Auckland University College. Councillor F. Meadowcroft, who was taken suddenly ill in the afternoon of Christinas Eve, and who has since been confined to his home, is now out of . danger. He expects to be about again shortly.
