The following are the results of th# Wanganui Gun Club’s Christmas shoot competitions:— Six-bird Handicap Match.—Kempton (16yds.), 6 birds: Dunlop (16yds.), 6 birds; Burgess (19yds.), 5 birds; ' R, Cuthbertson (12yds.), 5 birds; W. McKee (14yds.), 4 birds; Hughes, Smith, and A. McKee retired. Ten-bird Shoot Aggregate Match.— Burgess 19yds., 9 birds, Dunlop (15yds.), 8 birds; W. McKee 12yds.), 8 birds; A. McKee (16yds.), 7 birds; D. Smith (14yds.). 7 birds; Kempton (16yds.), 7 birds; Cuthbertson, Hughes, and F. Smith retired. Ten-bird Handicap Match..—D. Smith (14yds.), 5 birds; W. McKee (13yds.), 6 birds; A. McKee (16yds.), retired; Kempton (16yds.), 9 birds; Dunlop (17yds.), 7 birds; Burgess (20yds.), 9 birds. To decide this match, a further three birds were allowed. Kempton, however, failed, and Burgess and D. Smith decided on a first miss out, and Burgess won. The following were successful prizewinners: R. E. Cuthbertson, hind-quar-ter lamb; D. Burgess, ham, hind-quarter lamb; W. McKee, goose; D. Smith, goose and president’s trophy; J. Dunlop, forequarter lamb; C. Kempton, tin biscuits. At the conclusion of the shooting, opportunity was taken by the secretary on behalf of fellow members, to present a joint to Mr. H. McDonald, who had given valuable assistance to the club, and vice-presidentt B, Burgess handed the secretary a hind-quarter, and voiced members' appreciation of that officer’s efforts on behalf of the club. Sincere regret was expressed at the absence of the popular shot, Mr. T. Cuthbertson, the secretary being instructed to convey to him members best wishes for a speedy recovery to health.
