AGITATION AGAINST REFORMS GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS BURNED (Australian Press Association.) Delhi, December 3. The tribal agitation in Eastern Afghanistan against King Amanullah’s reforms is becoming increasingly serious. The Shinwari tribesmen burned a number of Government buildings at Jalalabad, including the King’s Palace, which contained valuable furniture. The loss is estimated at millions of rupees. Five aeroplanes and hangars were also burned. The military operations are not effective. Five Afghan Ministers are endeavouring to negotiate with the Shinwaris. The roads are rendered impassable by the tribesmen.
