TOBACCONIST SHOP ROBBED
SECOND TIME THIS YEAR Dominion Special Service. Christchurch, November 27. The shop of Mr. E. P. Jerman, hairdresser and tobacconist, Colombo Street North, near Edgeware Road, was entered by burglars . during last night, and a large quantity of goods stolen. When Mr. Jerman arrived at the shop this morning he found it in a state of confusion. The shelves and cupboards had been stripped of cigarettes and tobacco, and razors, and shaving gear had been practically cleaned out. Empty boxes were scattered about the floor. The goods taken were valued at about £3O. Mr. Jerman had replenished his stocks only yesterday, and it is the second time within the past few months that his establishment has been visited by burglars. The Intruders gained entrance to the shop through a billiard room at the back of the premises. In August of this year the shop was robbed and £2O worth of goods taken; a fortnight previously Mr. Jerman’s home was thoroughly ransacked.
