A DOUBLE ACCIDENT

TWO LADIES KNOCKED OVER BY MOTOR-CAR.

The period of the big fire was not without accident. As Miss M. Archer, of Brougham Street, and Mrs. H. Plimmer, of Roxburgh Street, were returning together from the fire shortly after midnight, they were knocked over by a motor-car coming from Clyde Quay near the City Hotel. Mrs. Plimmer, who was half stunned and severely bruised by her fall, stated afterwards that they knew nothing after being suddenly dazed by dazzling headlights of a car. They simply saw the lights and were struck down. There was no warning signal from the driver. Miss Archer was merely shaken by her fall, but Mrs. Plimmer had to receive medical attention, and is still confined to her bed.
