EVIDENCE AT INQUIRY LOG OF RADIO MESSAGES (Australian Press Association.) (Rec. November 27, 8.30 p.m.) New York, November 26. The Marconi International Marine Communication radio log of all messages dealing with the Vestris, produced at the Tuttle hearing, showed that Perry radioed the master of the Cedric at 10.56 on Monday morning, “We do not need your help,” although Perry had sent an SOS at 9.58. The Cedric replied at 10.50 that she was 180 miles away and would go to the asssitance of the Vestris if no other vessels were nearer. It was then Perry declined help. It was further disclosed that at 8.37 Captain Carey wirelessed the steamship Kedwick Hall: “Please stand by. We may need your help.” It is assumed that Captain Carey declined the Cedric's aid because he believed he could get help more quickly from other sources. The commanding officer of the Wyoming testified that the Vestris’s. position as sent out by .the vessel was incorrect by 27 miles.
