PETONE WATER SUPPLY

MAYOR URGES ECONOMY. “Owing to the serious condition in the shortage of the Petone water supply for domestic, sanitary, industrial, and fire prevention purposes,” said the Mayor (Mr. D. McKenzie) at last night's meeting of the Petone Borough Council, “may I ask the citizens to use the greatest care in conserving water by preventing wastage. The great demand for water domestically and industrially as a result of the advancement of Petone warrants every citizen economising in the use of water, particularly refraining from garden hosing. By so doing you are helping to save the limited supply and making it possible to meet the requirements of our town.”

After discussion in committee it was decided to prohibit hosing in the borough.
