LOCUST PLAGUE

IN KENYA COLONY STEPS TO COMBAT IT (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, November 19. Mr. W. G. Ormsby-Gore, Under-Sec-retary for the Colonies, made a statement regarding the recent locust plague in Kenya Colony. He said that steps were taken by the authorities to deal with the plague and expenditure amounting to £6500 was sanctioned for an anti-locust campaign, which was being vigorously prosecuted by the Department of Agriculture. The Government of Kenya agreed with Dr. Fuller, who had had. many years’ experience of locust work, that some permanent organisation was desirable for dealing with the movement of locust swarms, and this would be considered in connection with next year’s estimates.
