TRIBAL DISTURBANCE

ON NORTH-WEST FRONTIER OF INDIA TRAFFIC TO KABUL SUSPENDED (Australian Press Association.) Dellii, November 19. Reports from the North-West Frontier confirm the news of serious tribal disturbances on the Dakka-Jalalabad road, resulting in the suspension of traffic between India, and Kabul. The Mohmand, Khugirani, and Shinwari tribes are involved in the fighting. Probably Afghan troops will be called on to restore order. A Ghilzai tribe caravan has been attacked, but the assailants were driven off. King Amanullah’s reform programme is generally popular, but is not welcomed by a few clans: and may have caused trouble. The news from Waziristan shows that a section of the Mahsuds dislocated traffic on the Razmak road and kidnapped two British subjects. Air Force operations have been taken against the tribesmen.
