The Dominion's greatest industry is well represented at the Royal Show by an impressive display of nearly 500 of the finest dairy cattle in the country. Ayrshires come next in point of numbers, with Shorthorns, Herefords, Aberdeen Angus and ‘Milking Shorthorns close up. In the beef Shorthorn classes many well-known breeders were represented, notably from the Hawke's Bay and Wellington districts. The championship honours in the male classes went to Mr. J. A. Cadwallader, a well-known Greytown breeder, was a prominent exhibitor in the Friesian classes, and one of his cows was sorted out as the champion. The Ayrshires were a good lot. Mr. C. B. Morgan, of Ngawapurua, carried off six firsts, with some fine beasts. Two of his heifers, full sisters, annexed the championship awards for females.
