O BLAZE AT ASHHURST. Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, October 29. Shortly after midnight on Saturday night a wooden residence at Ashhurst, erected over 40 years ago, and occupied by Mr. N. C. B. Jensen, his wife and two children, was razed to the ground by-fire. On the family retiring on Saturday night everything seemed to be in order, but almost at midnight, Mr. find Mrs. Jensen heard the crackling of timber in the kitchen, and on opening the door found the room to be a mass of flames. A hasty exit‘was necessary by way of a window, and it was impossible to save anything. ' Presumably the kitchen chimney had proved defective, for soon after the fire had burnt itself out it collapsed. Two insurance policies of £lOO each cover the house and furniture, but there will be a loss in each instance. The building was owned by Mrs. Christina Jensen, mother of the occupant. Don’t be ;. loser. Get adequate insurance. Consult the Mercantile and General Insurance Co., Ltd., Panama Street, Wellington.—Advt.
