MUNIFICENT GIFT
FOR CHARITABLE PURPOSES IN BRITAIN (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, October 26. Another munificent gift for charitable purposes is announced to-day, an anonymous philanthropist having executed a deed of gift of approximately £150,000 in favour of the British Humane Association, to come into operation after his death. The same benefactor has subscribed £5OOO to a communal service for the use of the Guild of Freemen of the City of London on condition that the Guild subscribe an equal sum to the British Humane Association and to become founders. A similar arrangement has been made with the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, the object being that the association shall continue in perpetuity to be dominated by the ideals set out in Rotary, of which the donor is a member.
