OVERSEA PASSENGER TRAFFIC
PORT OF LONDON IMPROVEMENTS. A further step towards the completion of the scheme to provide London with up-to-date facilities for passenger traffic was taken by the Port of London Authority, when it recently accepted a , 1 tc _ n(Je^/ or r , V® erection of a baggage hall for the new river passenger Imiding stage at TJlburj. The hall, which is ilesigned by £‘r Edwm Cooper, will cost £40.00}), mid will be fully equipped for the expeditious ha passengers baggage bj H.M. Customs, and the general comfort and convenience of travellers. Several brbIKCS will connect the floating stage, 1140 feet in all, to the hall, which in turn leads directly into the improved railway station of the London Midland and Scottish Railway. The total cost of the scheme Is approximately £500.000. A tender was at the same time accepted for the construction of the entrance, approach, and dolphins for the new pier to be provided off the Tower of London. <>n completion of this pier next spring Old Swan I’ier. near London Brid ,r o will be removed.
