Sir—ln reply to your correspondent "XX 7 ild Deer,” I beg to submit the following information, trusting that it will answer the query to his satisfaction. According to Brett s .White the XVild Deer was a ship of 101 b tons, built at Glasgow in 1863 for the Albion Shipping Company. For the first tew years she was engaged in trade with China and was considered one of the fastest tea clippers. In 1871 the XVild Deer was diverted to New Zealand, ehe maintained her reputation as a fast sailer and completed ten voyages to loit Chalmers. XX'hen starting on her eleventh vova-e in 1883 from Glasgow she was wrecked off Cloughey, County Down, the mishap being due to the ship ™’ SS ’"S stnvs On her second voyage she left Glasgow on February 9. 18<-, u "der Captain XVhitson and arrived at Port Chalmers on May 9 of the same year.— 1 am, etc., ALTjAN a.
