The following list of cash retail prices gives a fair indication of what is being charged over the counter in the City. The quotations do not include delivery. Suburban prices are not quoted:—
Groceries. Best eggs, 1/7 doz.; good table butter, 1/8 lb.; pure whey butter, 1/6 lb.; cooked .ham, 2/2 and 2/6 lb.; prunes, 4d. lb.; mild cheese, 1/- lb.; matured cheese, 1/4 lb.; N.Z. Stilton cheese, 3/- lb.; condensed milk, 6d. and I/- per tin! dates, 6d. packet, and 4d. lb. loose; sugar, 14/9 (delivered) for 701 b. bag; bulk honey and clover honey. 9d. lb.; rice, sago, barley and tapioca, all 3d. lb.; Spanish muscatels, 1/6 packet; Californian muscatels, 1 Od. packet; Turkish figs, I/- lb.; new season’s French walnuts- (shelled), 2/6 lb.: Californian prunes, 30-40's.
