Lott (U.S.A.), in the Franco-Ameri-can teams’ match. 6—l, 6--3. Jean Borotra (France) defeated J. F. Hennessy (U.S.A.), 6—3. 3—6. 6 4. In the doubles, C. Boussns and H. Landry (France) defeated J. H. Docg and W. Coen (U.S.A.). 6—2. 7—5. J. Van liyn (U.S.A.) defeated Jacques Brugnon (France), 6—3, 6—2. (Rec. September 9, 5.5 p.m.) Philadelphia. September B._ Doeg defeated Landry 4 —6, 6—4. 7- —5; Hunter defeated Rene Debuzelet, 6 —4, 2—6, 9—7. . , Boussus defeated Coen. 7—5. B—6;8 —6; Allison and Van Ryn defeated Cochet and Debuzelet 7—9, 7—5. 6—4. France took five matches and the United States four.. . . William Johnson declared that it may be five or six years before the United States can win back the Davis Cup. He was much impressed with Coehet’s playing. “There were none on the courts who could come up to the standard of Cochet and Lacnste, and until America develops players nhle to bea' them, the cup will stay in France.” he said
