Docg and W. Coen (U.S.A.). 6—2. 7—5. J. Van liyn (U.S.A.) defeated Jacques Brugnon (France), 6—3, 6—2. (Rec. September 9, 5.5 p.m.) Philadelphia. William Johnson declared that it may be five or six years before the United States can win back the Davis Cup. He was much impressed with Coehet’s playing. “There were none on the courts who could come up to the standard of Cochet and Lacnste, and until America develops players nhle to bea' them, the cup will stay in France.” he said
