FIRE
‘ —4 ■ OUTBREAK IN WOODVILLE ENGINE SHED. Dominion Special Service. Woodville, September 7. Prompt action by Mr. G. Young, the only person on duty at the Woodville, engine sheds at 11.30 last night, saved the Railway Department’s property at Woodville from much more serious damage than was the case when an outbreak of fire occurred, orginating. presumably, in the drivers’ room. Working on one of the engines in the shed last night. Mr.. Young’s attention was drawn to the drivers’ room by a bright light, which after investigation, was found to be caused by a. fire that had already secured a strong hold Losing no time in calling the fire brigade, Mr. Young thereupon immediately set out to get the engines out of the shed, and succeeded in bringing three of the four out before the fire had spread too far to make it impossible, for him to bring out the fourth engine, which, though scorched, was not seriously damaged. The fire brigade were quick to reach the scene of the outbreak and to get the fire under control. The amount of damage done is estimated at approximately £5OO. The drivers’■ room was totally gutted, the locomotive office,: close to the shed, being considerably damaged. re you adequately insured? Consult the Mercantile and General Insurance Co.. Ltd..
