DAIRY SHIPMENTS FOR AUGUST INCREASE ON LAST YEAR’S TONNAGE An excellent start has been made in the dairy produce export trade tor the new season, which opened on August 1. Five steamers sailed from the Dominion for the United Kingdom during August, taking the first shipments of the season, totalling 44,302 boxes 'of butter and 2055 crates ot cheese, as against 23,208 boxes of butter and no cheese during August, 1027. Special arrangements have been made bv the shipping companies in connection with the September shipments. The total allotments of space for the month are 208,500 boxes of- butter and 25,200 crates of cheese, compared wtlh 127,425- boxes of butter and 15,300 crates of eheese shipped during September, 1027. The Corinthic, sailing from Wellington on September 26, and the Pakeha, leaving Auckland finally on September 20, will clear all diliry produce available for shipment up to those dates. Some very large shipments are being loaded at Auckland this month, the allotments for that port being 150,000 boxes of butter and 7800 crates of cheese. Another 105,000 boxes of butter will be loaded in three steamers during the first half of October. September shipments from Wellington will total 39,100 boxes of butter and 12,000 crates of cheese, and the allotments for the first half of October include 32,000 boxes of butter and 19,400 crates of cheese from Wellington, 15,000 boxes of butter and 10,000 crates of cheese from New Plymouth, and 5000 boxes of butter and 3000 crates of cheese from Waganui. The shipping allotments for September and first half of October are as follow:—
