♦ THIRD DEMONSTRATION CONCERT The third demonstration concert of the competitions was held in the Town Hall last night before a large audience, which thoroughly enjoyed the many interesting and various items on the programme. Many of the principal winners of events at the competitions performed their successful numbers over again, and the entertainment was excellent from beginning to end. Marjorie Alexander (piano solo). Joan Baine (operatic dance), Botha Thompson (girl’s song, "Trees"), Ruth Reid (violin solo), X’hyllis Adams (humorous recitation), the Combined Ballet (“Bridal Morn"), Lyall Bay School chorus ("The Fairy Queen and the Vagabond"), Zena Jupp (society’s scholarship recitation, "The Lady of I'rovence”). Marjorie Nelson (English Isong. "The Three Ravens"), “Anlheni and Hymn" (St. Hilda’s, Island Bay), society’s scholarship vocal sole, "O Mio Fernando, Anita Graham, Ruby Bushby (classical dance). R. J. Madigan (voeni solo). Laurie Searle (humorous character sketch) Miriama Heketa (toe dance). Grace Kerr and Lionel Inch (classical dialogue). E Gladding (vocal solo), Dorothea Vautier (New Zealand test recital). E. McLellan and G. Grav (vocal duet), and Jean Nichol (piano solo), were the successful competitors to repeat their items. There will be a demonstration concert this afternoon. The final demonstration concert will be held .to-night. In vesterdav’s report of the competitions it. wn's stated that Miss Ormic Reid (Kelburnl was disqualified after having previously been warned in the cliief piano solo for ’ cxcei’dlnr th“ time limit allowed. Miss Reid was disqualified In the event mentioned, but she was nor warned tor exceeding the time limit in the day session ns stated.
