DEATH DURING DENTAL OPERATION
EXTRACTION OF FULL* SET OF TEETH. Dominion Special Service. Christchurch, September 6. Mrs. C. L. Thompson, a young married woman, died at her home, 140 Riccarton Road, while under an anaesthetic for the extraction of a full set of teeth. -Mr. L. B. Thompson, of Ilalleustein’s Chambers, was the dentist, and Dr. Vivian was the anaesthetist. The operation took place in Mrs. Thompson’s home because it was considered the most convenient and restful place for her. She was a former patient of Mr. Thompson, and the extraction of her teeth had been arranged over a week before. There was nothing hurried about the operation,. She had been examined by Dr. Vivian, and he had no cause to fear any mishap. The patient collapsed halfway through the operation, and although everything possilde was done to bring her round it was unnsuccessful. Mrs. Thompson was the wife of Mr. Charles Leonard Thompson, railway workshops employee.
