Commenting on the final Rugby Test match, in which the All Blacks defeated the Springboks by 13 points to 5, F. M. Howard, in the “Cape Times,” said: “The All Blacks brilliantly confounded opinion in this country, and made full and splendid amends for any previous failures by squaring matters in the Test rubber in such an emphatic manner.” H. Du P. Steytler in "Die Berger, stated: “It was touch and go all the time in the Test matches. The New Zealanders thoroughly deserved the win on Saturday. Their forwards plaved with inspiration, determination, ami dash; Murk Nicholls did the rest.” H. B. Heartland, in the “Johannesburg Star,” said: "The New Zealand victory was achieved in the first place by one of the most inspiring exhibitions of combined forward play it lias been my fortune to see. and secondly by the genius of Mark Nicholls, who, in his long-delayed appearance in the Tests, showed that he is still a world’s figure in Rugby. There was a tigerish intensity about the play of the forwards which enabled them to sweep over the opposition. Anyaccuratc foot guided bv clever opportunism did the rest. Saturday’s game provided'an indelible memory of the All Blacks at their best.” CONGRATULATORY MESSAGES “A SPLENDID FINISH” The following cablegram has been received by the New Zealand Rugby Union from the South African Rugby Board: — . .' , “Accept hearty congratulations great victory; richly earned; splendid finish to successful tour.” The New Zealand Rugby Union has replied as follows: — “Your congratulations appreciated; trust tour has been successful in every way, and friendships between both countries further cemented.” A cablegram has also been sent to the team heartily congratulating it on its splendid victory.
