progressive association meets. A meeting of the Houghton Valley Progressive Association was held last night Mr. W. S. Bruce presiding. A“’O“g those nrospnt were Mr. T, Forsyth, M. 1., and Mr A C. Blake, president of the Eastern Suburbs League. The chairman comp llmooted the association on the excellent attendance of members. Mr D N. Lennox tendered his resignation 'from the position of secretary, and Mr E A. Hate was elected in his place. The committee responsible for the erection of the new hall reported that they had not been receiving the support that they had hoped for, and that had been promised them. . Mr. Bruce said that a letter was to be sent to the tramway department asking tor a later tram to Lyall Bay. A letter was received trom the Education Board in connection with the estab, lishment of a school at Houghton Bay. The letter stated that an estimate of a room to accommodate the infants at Houghton Bay had been prepared and submitted to the Government for a grant. A copy of the suggested plan was enclosed, it being stated that tlie room was of the size usually erected for schools that were likely to grow.
