CABLE-WIRELESS MERGER
CANADIAN COMPANY MAY JOIN EFFORT TO El*? LABOUR OPPOSITION (Australian Press Association.) Montreal, September 2. It is understood that there is a likelihood of the Canadian Marconi Company entering the British merger between the Eastern and Marconi shortly. It is understood that there will be a ‘meeting at- Ottawa next week between the ex-Premier, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, Sir Campbell Stuart, and the officials of the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National Railways to discuss the whole future of the merger.
It is presumed that an effort will be made to explain to Mr. MacDonald the position of the Canadian Government in order to insure tlie withdrawal of Labour opposition to the merger. Officials of the Canadian Marconi Company here refuse to comment on the matter. ■■
