The Arbitration Court at Invercargill yesterday heard a claim for £5OO by Hugh Lawrence Henry and his wife. Margaret Henry, from the Ohai Railway Board ns compensation for the death of their son Janies Lawrence Henry, who was accidentally killed by a fall of earth on May 17 while in the employ of the board. Plaintiffs advanced the plea that deceased, who was unmarried, partially supported his family. Judgment was given for plaintiffs tor iJUU, funeral and medical expenses also being allowed. —Press Assn. The latest claim for a local record conies from Orepuki (relates the “Southland Times”). A subscriber writes: “There is an item that may interest some of your readers on view in a shop window nt Orepuki in I lie shape of a hen’s egg. It is an extraordinary specimen, measuring 7}in. round the ‘girth’ and 9}in. round lengthwise. It weighs 6ioz. The egg was laid by one of Mr. J. C.
