CHRISTCHURCH HUNT CLUB MEETING TO-DAY THE FIELDS REVIEWED

The annual race meeting of the Christchurch Hunt Club will be held on the Riccartou course to-day. This fixture of recent years lias attracted more than ordinary attention on account of taking immediate precedence to the Grand Nationals. and the running therefore is closely watched for a line on the more important events to follow. This year some of the fields are thin, but the majority in the chief events are Grand National and Winter Gup winners, so interest will not be lacking. . The distance will be quite far enough for Peneus, but be must be respected. He ran second in this race last year. Scion and Craigmore Will attract notice as they are likely sort., for the National, while Star Shell and Nine o’ Spades are a couple of good lightweights. Craigmore, Peneus and Brigadier Bill may carry most support.

Nincompoop is favourably handicapped on his recent form, and Taboo on his Trentham running will appeal. Tuahine is one who might sprlug a surprise. Prompter won a similar class race well at the South Canterbury meeting and appears entitled to most consideration. Lord Leslie is useful when right and Locarno,, of course, is better thau any of them. On breeding Hyperion (Boniform—Pierene) should be equal to good class races.
