Self-help has perforce been taken as the motto of residents of Jutland Road, Takapuua, where working bees have been busy on recent Saturday afternoon (says the “New Zealand Herald”). The other day the final portion of the footpath between Hauraki Corner and Northborough Road was cleared of grass and weeds, and an open drain made to carry off the surface water. Repeated application to the Takapuna Borough Council _ has brought no remedy, and residents in the vicinity are attempting to put the footpaths in proper order during the wet weather. A reaident of many years standing says the paths and roadway are in a worse condition than they were 20 years ago, when Jutland Road had an asphalt footpath with surface-water drains, and a road with a good, metal surface.
