WELLINGTON v. NGAIO.

The Wellington and Ngaio Chess Clubs played their annual league match at the former’s rooms, 64 Courtenay Place, on Saturday evening, when a. very enjoyable contest resulted. The issue depends on the result of three unfinished games, the scores being as follow WELLINGTON NGAIO,

It will be noted that the outstanding games will not only decide Ihe result' of the match, but that they also have a bearing ou the senior teams’ tourney of the Wellington Chess League (for which the scores at the first six boards are taken), and also ou the league’s junior teams' tourney (boards 7 to 13 inclusive). The Ngaio Club, which lost two games by default, was severely handicapped by the absence of Messrs. A. B. Topp, W. J. Carman, A. T, Eades, and H. Stringer. Under the league’s rules the unfinished games have to be decided by the two captains.

WADESTOWN r. WORKING MEN’S CLUB. The final result of this match is: Working Men's Club 6J, Wadestown 4J. the two captains (F. K. Kelling and H. Godtschalk) having agreed to call their unfinished game a draw. The score at the first six boards is in favour of the Working Men’s Club (34 to. 24), and that club therefore secures a point in the league senior teams’ tourney. The Wadestown Club has not entered its B team for the junior teams’ contests. The Wadestown v. South Wellington fixture, which completes the league’s second drawings, is to be played at Wadestown al. an early date. CANTERBURY v. WELLINGTON. The Canterbury Chess Club has notified the 'Wellington Club that next Mondays telegraphic match is to be one of 20 boards, and that the numerical notion is to. be reverted to, ns the English notation, which was tried last year, did not turn out to be the improvement (bat was hoped for. .
