BUSY TIME FOR FREE AMBULANCE

The Wellington Free Ambulance created a new record in attending to thirty-two cases on Saturday, eleven of which were accident cases. The prevalent number of cases previously attended to in any one day was 27. The total number oz miles travelled by the ambulances on Saturday was 369. Jockeys Injured. ■While riding at Trentham, two jockeys, J. Tilson and L. Jervis, sustained injuries as the result of their niou is falling. Tilson received injuries to his legs, and shock and Jervis suffered concussion anl shock. After being attended to by the ambulance, they were taken to their homes. Motor-Cyclists Hurt. A carpenter, E. A. Anderson, who resides at 100 Matheson Road, Christchurch, collided with a motor-lorry while riding his motor-cycle along Customhouse Quay about 11.25 a.m. He was attended to by the ambulance and removed to his tempory lodgings at 6 Fifeshire Avenue. About 12.45 p.m. A. Smith, a farmer, of Nai Nai Road, Lower Hutt, collided with a lorry while riding a motor-cycle in Main Road, Taita. He was taken to the Public Hospital by the ambulance suffering from a compound fracture of the right thigh, a fracture of the right leg, a wound over the right eye, and abrasions to the right hand and foot. The third motor-cyclist to be injured was C. E. Blake, a contractor, of 15 Kent Terrace. He collided with a motor-car at the corner of Waterloo Road and Cornwall Street, Lower Hutt, at 5.40 p.m. He was taken to the Public Hospital, where he was admitted suffering from abrasions to the forehead :i -d shock. Footballers Injured. Three footballers were injured while playing Rugby, and had to be taken to the hospital. Inlaying for Old Boys at Kilblrnie, H E* McKinley, of 27 Resolution Street, had his collar-bone fractured and sustained concussion. T. Warner, of 47 Wallace Street, fractured bis right ankle while playing for Technical College on the Polo Ground (Miramar) at 2.10 p.m. C. M. Sloane, a clerk, of Porjrua, injured his left shoulder while playing for Porirua at the Prince of Wales Park. Fall from Tram. Miss Estelle Jordan, of Linffrum Terrace, fell while attempting to step off a moving traincar in Lambton Quay yesterday afternoon, and sustained injuries to her head. Louis McDonald, single, aged 27, was admitted to hospital at 11 o’clock last night with a fractured right leg caused by his falling down the stairs of the Princess Theatre. SHUNTING ENGINE AND CAR COLLIDE. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) Christchurch, July 15. A collision occurred at Colombo Street railway crossing on Saturday evening between a motor-car and it shunting engine. Tbe tore part of the motor was badly damaged and the windscreen smashed, but the occupants, of whom there were four, escaped injury. The motorist states that he saw the' crossing keeper’s signal, but the brakes slipped and the ear had sufficient pace to carry it to the line.
