DECIDED TO RETIRE
MH. T. K. SIDEY WILL NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION Dominion Special Service. Dunedin, July 11. At a meeting of the committee of Mr. T. K. Sidey, member of Parliament for Dunedin South, last evening, advice was received that Mr. Sidey had decided to retire from Parliament. For twenty-seven years Mr. Sidey, who, next to Mr. T. M. Wilford, holds the record for unbroken service in the House, has represent' his constituency. . ■ Several ladies suggested that Mr. Sidey should be approached with the idea of asking him to reconsider his decision, but Mr.. Devlin (chairman of the committee) pointed out that that could hardly be done, as Mr. Sidey had made his intention clear, and said It was now their duty to look out for someone to contest the seat in Mr. Sldey’s place.
