At the wool sales 0701 bales were offered, of which Australian numbered 835 and New Zealand 4033. There was an excellent selection of slipes. The sale was characterised by a crowded attendance from all quarters, and by a good tone, Continentals and Yorkshire being active. All merino and crossbred combings were firm at May closing prices. Even, finer grades of slipes were not maintained at May’s abnormally high prices, but were abput 5 per cent, cheaper. Other slipes were unchanged. The New Zealand offerings fetched: Canterbury, highest price 30d., average 27Jd.; Matal Park, Slid, and 21d.; Oxford. 421 d. and 41d.; Oakleigh, 274 d. and 24*d.; 'Hakatarameq, 43Jd. and 40d. OTHER ADVICES Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London agents, dated July 10:—‘The auctions opened here to-day with a large attendance of Home and Continental buyers. Competition is keen, and ail sections of the trade are operating freely, particularly the Continent. As compared with closing rates of the last series, prices .generally show little change, with the exception of slips halfbred lambs and slipe threequarter bred lambs, which are Id. to lid. per lb. lower, whilst coarse slipes are unchanged.” x Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of the following wool market cablegram from-their London agents, dated July 10: —“Sales have opened, good attendance of buyers, competition good, all sections operating freely, poor selection offered. Compared, with last London sales closing rates, greasy merino, market shows no change; scoured merino, none offering: crossbred greasy and scoured, market shows no change; slipe fine and medium crossbred declined 5 per cent.; slipe, other descriptions, market shows no change..
