NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW

DISAPPOINTING WEATHER FOR SECOND DAY FURTHER JUDGES’ AWARDS Dominion Special Service. . s Palmerston North, June 20. The weather was miserable for the second day of the National dairy Show in Palmerston North, a light drizzling rain early in the day making conditions dismal and disappointing. All the same, the attendance at the fixture was excellent, and the many attractions on the grounds were thronged with visitors, especially in'the afternoon when the Rugby match for the Moascar Cup, between the Palmerston North Boys’ High School (challengers) and the Te Aute College (holders) provided exciting entertainment.

The National Dairy Association Conference was again attended by a record number of delegates, and their decision to hold their next conference at Whangarei will come as a great disappointment to the Manawatu A. and P. authorities, who have done their utmost in providing entertainment for the visitors. The annual conference of the,New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers' Association was also attended- by a large gathering of delegates, and their grading competition was not only an interesting, but also a distinctly valuable asset to a show that does much for the primary industries of the Dominion.

Of particular interest was the opening of the Manawatu Poultry Association’s annual show, which ceremony was performed by the Minister of Agriculture (Hon. O. J. Hawken), who was a visitor to the show during the afternoon, and who addressed members of the National Dairy Association Conference. The entries for the poultry show are less than those of previous years, owing to the clashing of several shows. The association has bigger space allotted them this year, and there are over 1000 birds exhibited. The standard is very high—in fact, higher than for several years past There are several exhibits from the South Island.

Stockbreeders had an exceptionally busy day at the show six annual meetings being held in addition to the annual stud sale of the Nei\>* Zealand Ayrshire breeders’ Association. , . •
