FRENCH HARD COURT CHAMPIONSHIPS. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) Faris. May 21. In hard-court tennis championships in the first round of the doubles, Torralva (Chile) and Edouard Borotra (France) defeated J. Peacock (New Zealand) and Guillemot (France). G—4, 6—5—3. Borotra displayed most brilliant strokes, recalling those of his famous brother. HONOUR FOR N. E. BROOKES. Paris. May 21. The President of France has created Brook»s a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in recognition of his distinguished tennis career and services; to the French tennis players when in Australia.
