Foxton. May 22. While returning to Foxton at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday, on his motor-cjcle, Alfred Walsh.' a motor mechanic, collided head-on with a gig containing a lady and two children. The motor-cyclist was thrown in the air and, lauding in the Kia. knocked the occupants out, rendering Mrs. T Royal, the'driver, unconscious.' 1 lie cycle crashed under the gig. smashing tile shaft and piling up on the axle of the vehicle, damaged beyond repair. \\ alsh was not seriously injured. -Mrs. Royal and family had nothing more than a severe slinking. The horse wits not injured. but freeing itself from the wreckage. it bolted. ’ Foxton seniors had a decisive victory over Weraroa at Foxton on Saturday, winning by 35 points to 7. Westwood, Huff and Renata scored for Foxton, and Taylor’s excellent place-kicking contributed to the score. I oxton juniors were defeated by Miranui, at Shannon, bv 39 points to 3. Huff kicked a penalty goal for Foxton. The Foxton third grade team was defeated by Shannon, at Shannon, bv 14 points to 6. Newson scored both tries for Foxton. Arrangements are being made for the visit of a Sclwyn fourth grade team to Foxton on June 4. The friends of Mr. A. Smith, who has been seriously ill in the Palmerston North Hospital, will be pleased to learn that he is now convalescent.
