The latest issue is the Kenya Government loan of £3,500,000, bearing interest at 4* per eeut., and issued at £95. This loan' was most favourably’ received and over-subscribed immediately the prospectus was issued. It is now quoted at a slight premium. CHILD’S DEATH FROM SCALDS CORONER’S VERDICT. Dominion Special Service, i Auckland, May 22How scalds sustained through boiling soup being splashed over her resulted recently in the death of Reta Hegh, aged 2 years, was revealed at an inquest held to-day. The child lived with her parents at Papakura. “In the morning my daughter-in-la-w, Mrs. Frances Hegh, came to my place and asked me to look after the children while she went to Auckland,” said Mrs. Evelyn. A. Thorneliy, grandmother of the child. “While I was preparing the evening meal, the children were playing in the kitchen. Just as I was carrying a pot of boiliug soup into the scullery, one of the children pushed Reta toward me, and some of the soup splashed over the child.” Mrs. Thorneliy had rendered first aid, and had notified a chemist. When the child was medically attended, her removal to Auckland Hospital was ordered. Two days after her admission she died. Death was due to shock, following scalds to her neck, chest and face, according to Dr. Noakes, who examined thd child at the hospital. A verdict in accordance with thq doctor’s evidence was returned.
