Auckland, May 17. A Chinaman, Charlie Lee, found guilty of defrauding his fellow-country-men'bv falsely representing that he could obtain extensions of their permits ‘to stay in this country, was sentenced by Mr. Justice MacGregor to three months’ imprisonment on each of four charges, to be served concurrently. His Honour said it was obvious that Chinese had been brought to work here in some irregular way which he was at a loss to understand.
