f LEEDS TOURNAMENT. (Australian Press Assn—United Service.) London, May 16. Rufus Stewart qualified for the Leeds tournament with 150. . Thirty-two competed in the match play. The leaders are: Davies 143, Gaudin, C. A. Whitcombe, Williamson, and Button, 144; Gadd, 146; Robson, and Compston. 148; Ockenden and Duncan, 150. The failures included Mitchell, Havers, Herd, and Nar- ■ soitz, 152; Melhorn. 153; and Jurado, 100. , Women’s Championship. In the women’s golf championship only oue American, Mrs. Hurd, survived-■ the fifth round. Miss Wragg beat the American hope, Miss Glenna Collett, in the fourth round, 3 and 2. Miss Joy Winn
beat Miss Curtis. 6 and 5, and Miss Molly Gourlay beat Mrs. Hanley, 7 and O. NELSON LADIES’ PROVINCIAL TOURNAMENT. Dominion Special Service. Nelson, May 17. The ladies’ provincial golf tournament was continued to-day in the best of weather. Better golf was shown' than on the first day, Miss Acheson, doing the best round with a score of 79 gross, against 78 bogey for the course. In the second round of the championship : — Miss Acheson beat Mrs. A. Allan, 8 and 7. Mrs. Dodson beat Miss Hair. 3 and 2. Miss Harkness beat Mrs. McLaren, 3 and 2. Miss Lucas beat Miss Gray,. 2 and 1. In the semi-finals: — Alias Acheson beat Mrs. Dodson, 0 and 5. Miss Harkness beat Miss Lucas, 3 and 2. Miss Acheson won the second medal, senior division, 79—1—73 and Mrs. McLaren won the junior division', 103—21—82. The four-ball bogey match was won by Mrs. Acheson and Mrs. McLaren. 9 up. Other cards were as follows:: Miss F. Clark and Hayes, 2 up: Miss Hogg and Mrs. Thompson, all square; Mrs. Milner and Miss Hair, 2 down.
