AUCKLAND SUBURBS CANDIDATES'

Auckland, May 1.7.

Another candidate for Reform Party nomination for the Auckland Suburbs seat at the General Election is Mr. Marshall Laing, of New Lynn. The other Reform candidates . are Messrs. D. B. Russell, of Avondale, and B. Bunn, of Kumeu. Mr. Laing is willing, to submit his mime to a ballot of Reform supporters in the district to decide who is to receive the party nomination. The sitting member for the district is Mr. H. G. R, Mason (Labour), and the United Party candidate is -Mr. E. R. Allen.

MERGER WITH UNITED PARTY;

Mr. A. E. Davy, Dominion Orguiiiscr for the United Party, addressed a largely attended meeting of supporters of the Liberal Party in New Plymouth on Monday evening.- At the conclusion of the meeting (he following resolution was carried unanimously “That this meeting' of the Taranaki Liberal Branch of the New Zealand Liberal Party (comprising Neiy Plymouth and Waitaraj:. being of opinion that such action will help to make possible the attainment of sound and progressive government in New Zealand, unanimously agrees to amalgamate with the United Polilical Party of Now Zealand.” Mr. J. McLeod presided.
