RAILWAY BUSES
A. PETONE COMPLAINT. That extra buses should be put on by the Railway Department during the busy hours in Petone was the opinion expressed by Councillor Cumming at last nights’ meeting of the Borough Council. “Whenthe. other proprietors had the buses 1 hey' would put an extra vehicle on at rush Hours to accommodate the people.” saiil Councillor Cumming. “With the Railway Department, however, things are different. People have to stand up in the buses alb the way to town at times, and its not right. .As the department has taken over the service it has a duty to perform to the public, and so far as the people of Petone are concerned, it- is not' doing it. There is no reason why an extra bus or so could not be-put on when it is desired. I suggest we write to the department and let them know our opinion on the subject.”
It was decided to write to the Railway Department and explain the position fully. An application by the Department for permission to park its buses in Beach Btreet was refused on the ground that the street was far too narrow for the purpose. It was agreed, however, that the Department be allowed to park up to as jn.nny as four buses ill Elisabeth '■Street,.
