A GOOD WORD FOR THE RAILWAYS
Sir.—Why all the noise about the railways'.' Surely with toresight pud good judgment, • with the . necessary amount of expenditure winch is absolutely ’essential to their developmehtj they must comfe into their own. . • n It is* the railways that have- materially assisted in the development of this coun-. try, and we are indebted to them in many ways. The electrically lit carriages are very cheerful, and a boon indeed. and given time electrification and duplication must come, lhe country has many millions invested in the railways, and we are all taxed for their upkeep, and they also employ many hundreds Of men. Adopt, the most progressive methods and cut oiit that sooty smoke, and give us clean, comfortable carriages, and I am sure things will go ahead.-—! am, etc., TKjxYJjLJjKK. May. IG<
