ANNUAL POSTING PARADE
The annual posting parade for recruits will take place at the Barracks on the evening of May 17. All the recruits have been already medically examined, and this parade is to enable recruits to select their units. In spite of the fact that each unit is allovyed to recruit up to one-third of its total strength there is always a rush for the artillery. Presentation of Trophies. The G.O.C. (Major-General Young) will present trophies at the Drill Hall on May 16, at 8 p.m. The sth Field Battery will receive the following cups and trophies:—Col. Pearce’s Cup (Right Section) ; Col. Collins’s Cup (“D” Sub-sectioon); Col. Morehouse Cup (Gunner D. K. Carey); challenge cup (L.-Bdr. Lawton) ; Col. Smith’s Cup (L.-Sgt. Paul) ; Capt. McEvedy’s Cup (L.-Sgt. Robertson) ; Ledger Cup (L.-Sgt. Bell) ; Col. Morehouse Shield (Bdr. Curran). The 15th Coast Battery has won the Hudson Cup, and in addition will receive the following trophies:—Best range taker (Gnr. E. A. Armstrong) ; best signaller (Gnr. C. Reid) ; best Lewis gunner (Gnr. P. L. Phillips) ; best Gin. gunner (Gnr. A. Johansen) ; best 12 pounds gunner (Gnr. K. C. White); best electrician (Gnr. C. Waite) ; best enginedriver (Gnr. J. S. McLeod) ; most improved N.C.O. (Sgt. M. Mills). The 19th Medium Battery will receive trophies as follow: —Best section (Left Section, 2nd Lt. Powles) ; best subsection (A.-Sgt. Williams) ; best allround gunner (L.-Bdr. Pendray) ; most improved N.C.O. (L.-Sgt. Weldon); best Lewis gunner (Gnr. L. Fisher) ; best signaller (Gnr. Pearson). It is interesting to note that many prominent men have passed through the ranks of the sth Field Battery, including the Minister of Defence, Lt.-Col. Freyberg, Lt.-Col. Avery. Lt.-Col. N. S. Falla, C.M.G., D. 5.0., A.D.C., will be in command of the parade.
