Christchurch Municipal Markets.—lt is understood that the Christchurch City Council has received a substantial offer to purchase the site of the Municipal Market in Worcester Street, together with all buildings that have been erected for the purposes of the market. The offer will be considered at next Monday’s meeting of the council. The land on which the market stands was purchased some years ago by the Municipal Electricity Department as a site for an electrical sub-station. It was proposed to utilise the portion of the land not required for the sub-station for the erection of a women’s rest room and offices, but it was found that the council did not have power to erect offices and let them to tenants. After lying idle for several years, the site was selected last December for the Municipal Market. —Special.
