.Sir Alfred Mond yesterday announced that he will not again contest the Carmarthen division, for which be now sits in the House of Commons. Rumours have been current that Sir Al-, fred Mond will be elevated to the peerage in the King's Birthday honours list. This announcement is regarded as confirming the report. If Sir Alfred becomes a peer there will be a by-elec-tion in Carmarthen.
