AN ASSET
WAIRARAPA POWER PLANT. Carterton. May 8. An inquiry as to whether its own plant at Kourarau was going to prove an asset to the Wairarapa Power Board when unlimited power became available from Waikarenioana, in December, 1928. was made at to-day’s meeting of the board by Mr. W. A. Tate (Greytown). Mr. Tate: Is Kourarau going to prove a payable proposition? ■. ' The chairman: The trouble is we have got it. Mr. Tate: But is it going to make the cost of power prohibitive? The chairman: You will need to obtain the cost per unit from Kourarau. You must not lose sight of the fact that up to Ulis point, Kourarau has been the means of building up our consumers and providing continuity of supply. Mr. Tate: The question is what sort of an asset will Kourarau be in the future. The secretary remarked that the approximate capital cost of the Kourarau plant to date had been £75,000. Mr. Tate was informed that the figures he required would be provided.
