DETERMINED SUICIDE

RETIRED FARMER CUTS HIS THROAT. By Telegraph.—-Piiess association Auckland, May 8. A verdict of suicide was returned by Mr. F. K. Hunt, Coroner, at an inquest on Henry Bailey, aged 70, who lived with two sisters at Kingsland. Bailey was a. retired farmer and recently had a serious breakdown, and separation from his wife had been preying on his mind. When called to lunch yesterday by his sisters he said: “I am going to end this,” and picking up a table knife went to his room and tried to cut his throat. The knife was taken from him, aS was also a razor, which, however, he again got possession of. His sisters ran for assistance, and on returning found Bailey dead in the washhouse with his throat cut.
