IMPORTANT PROPOSAL At the meeting of the City Council last night the Works Committee reported that a visit of inspection has been paid to Vivian Street in‘ Connection with a recommendation from the citv engineer that this street be widened to 66ft., and that the corenr at the intersection of Cuba Street be S P oack in front of premises occupied by Patrick and Co. The committee referred this matter to the council for a decision. . .. Councillors A. D. Bennett, in submitting the report, said the matter had -been before the council on previous occasions. He confessed that the proposal had been brought down with some haste, but there were reasons why it should be decided as soon as possible. He would like the. matter to be further considered by the committee, and with the consent of the Mayor he would bring the matter before the next meeting of the council. He did not wish it to be regarded in the light of a catch vote. , , The proposed course was. adopted.
